World cup fever

This blog as you will see definatly has a World Cup feel about it
Let’s start with Rita’s sister and boys coming down for a week during half term. The weather could have been warmer but they did get a few nice days near the end of their time.

His brother Andres is a budding football star and most mornings and evenings we were out in the garden practicing our skills.

In games we played it was always England v Brazil and he was England. Needless to say England always won. Oh if only that could be repeated in the world cup.

We have been very busy with church activities and here you see me talking with some of the folk from our J.John Just Ten evening were he is going through the Ten Commandments on video. Most of the people who attend have just come through an ALPHA course and are very keen to know more. We meet on a Tuesday night and last week they voted to meet, even though England are playing Sweden next week. I was a bit surprised but thought it wouldn’t hurt for me to give this one a miss until I realized the title of the evening, ‘You shall have no other Gods before Me’ Oh well it will probably be a boring game anyway.

Over the last four Monday nights we have been running a mini 'Perspectives' course. That has gone well with up to 40+ attending. Traditionally a strong missions sending church, it is so good to see a renewed interest in overseas mission and we are looking forward to the day when they resume sending out long term missionaries. We have loved getting good missions books into peoples hands and seeing them passed around in the church. Here I am talking to one of the Perspective students who is from Brazil about an important world issue. Will it be Brazil or England that will win the world cup final?



Rita has been involved in Perspectives too and is seen here talking to another student. "Well whats keeping you from going then"?





Our days are full. Yesterday we meet with the leaders in the morning, who asked us to consider staying on until they have chosen the new senior pastor. We attended the afternoon service held every Tuesday, a Welsh Mission planning meeting and then over tea spoke to 'Live Wires' 5 – 8 year olds about Gods heart for the nations (you can never start to early) I dressed up as a Berber of North Africa. Can you spot me with my Jalaba and subtle false moustache? Needless to say we had great fun.The day ended with us helping out in the group discussion after the J.John video.



We continue to enjoy the garden the flowers and now strawberries. We will have some for tea tonight when my mum and sister come over. I have to say though the slugs and snail are also enjoying as many if not more than we are.



Rita is heading back to Liverpool tomorrow to see her mum, family and friends for a few days. Last weekend we had Louise and Ian down with us and we had a great time enjoying the hot weather.
