SPAIN!!!

As some of you will know, we set off to Spain last week to test the waters and see if this was to be the base for the next season of our lives. Well the quick answer is yes. We had a really good week there, met up with the three different ministries operating in the Malaga area and although they are all doing excellent work we warmed very much to the ministry that is focused on North Africa called 'Gosahara' based in Torremolinos. As many will know we have a heart for that region having been to North Africa on numerous occasions and in fact are taking a team from the church to Southern Morocco next week.

The ministry oversees the work in seven nations where about 85 people are working and they have teams going in regularly, some 20 so far this year.

And what is Rita’s reaction to all of this I hear you ask. Well I think the photo below says it all. It will be a challenge to both of us particularly the language but for Rita there is the issue of the heat and driving on the other side of the road. She says she will need much grace for both.

So the timetable looks like this. We will continue with our sending church until the end of January. This has been such a good time for us. We love being part of all that is happening there at the moment and in many ways it will be hard to leave. One very positive thing is that we will have more contact with the church it seems than we had in Liverpool, with talk about teams coming out to minister both at the base and in North Africa. We look forward to that. At the end of January we will head back to Liverpool to close things there and hand the house back to the trust. We are wondering about buying the house so that we don’t have to store our furniture and have tenants that will help to provide income for our support in Spain. We have asked the trust if they are prepared to sell it and at what price. We will see what God will do.
Then early March it’s the big off and hopefully adjust to the temperature as it continues to rise.
At first we will work on the base doing general duties adjusting to the culture and maybe go on a months intensive language learning course. The longer term will see Rita involved in housekeeping and hospitality which is a key ministry at the base and I will be involve in training and going into North Africa from time to time. Well that is the way it appears at the moment.

I am typing this in Derby where I and speaking on a Y school and Rita is in Liverpool with her mum. Ian and Louise are down this weekend and Ian is singing one of his songs in the morning service. Talking of Ian and Louise and Sharon and Tim they are delighted with the news and Louise is already working out when they can come out to see us.
