Joys and Sorrows

February has been quite a month for us. Our time in Spain went very well. It was a privilege and joy to teach the student who were eager to learn. Also there was lots of catching up with friends, often over a meal and meetings talking about our further involvement in the region in the future. We loved every minute of our time there. (the photo is of the students I was teaching I did have a great one of me with them but deleted it by accident when back in the UK arrgh)
It was on the Saturday before our planned return the next day we heard that Rita’s mum was in hospital after a heart attack. As soon as we got back the following day we drove straight up to Liverpool to see her. She was quite bright when we got to see her on Monday and we had a very good time with her. During our visit I asked her the question "Mona do you love Jesus". Without hesitation she came back with "of course I love Jesus". It was quite a shock later that evening to get a phone call saying Rita should come to the hospital immediately and she died just before Rita and her brother got there. She was 87. The funeral service went really well on Monday with the chapel full to overflowing and the Vicar who took it making the service very special. In her grieving Rita is finding Gods grace and comfort and knowing many have been praying for her has helped enormously.

This last week has been the Radiotherapy week for me. It has gone pretty well with the only side effect being tiredness particularly in the evenings. Prayer again has really made a difference so thanks for all who have prayed. Please continue to pray as I’m told that the side effects often don’t materialize until the week after. We shall see.
Well that is it for this month.

Togg on the Blog.

Rita has written this months blog.

We had been working long hours, with very little free time at the drug rehab Centre in the Cotswold’s. When a friend from a church in Woking said there was a caravan available for us to use for a weeks break, needless to say we jumped at the chance.

We made our way down to Lyme Regis arriving on the Sunday night and settled in thinking we would go to the bank the next morning and get some money out (no hole in the wall in those days) But the next day was a bank holiday which we had somehow missed. So no food and no money, did God want us to fast!

On Monday morning others who had been camping from the church came to say good-bye and drop off some of there leftover bits. You can guess our delight when Chris came with a box of cornflakes and some milk. Breakfast sorted. Then someone else came with bread and sandwich fillings. Lunch sorted. This was getting exciting. What was provided for evening meal? Eggs and fried potatoes my favorite. Yes God is very good.
