A Happy New Year

Just a short blog to wish you all a very happy New Year. We saw the New Year in ourselves by participating in the Spanish tradition of stuffing a grape into our mouths for every bong of the bell at midnight. To be honest I don’t think I will be participating in the tradition next year.

Malaga at night. They really go to town with 1000s of lights, the streets thronged with people, a fiesta atmosphere and bands, jugglers, conjurors and robotic people.
Christmas day was very enjoyable with 33 of us. We had a short carol service in the morning, then dinner at about 3pm, a magnificent affair provided by you know who ( it wasn’t me ) and then some games that were a lot of fun. We ended the day with a good film; it was a time to wind down and relax. The Spanish don’t have a Boxing day (although they do have three Kings day on the 6th January when the children get their presents) but we celebrated it in the traditional way, walks, more food and games.

The weather has been amazingly warm 18 – 20 Celsius during the day, but colder morning and evening. Here we are having a picnic at the top of a mountain nearby. We didn’t walk up, we went by cable car and had magnificent views of the
Mediterranean

Well that’s it for now. Our DTS starts on the 17th we have a potential of 12 students so far and are very encouraged by that. Our next blog will be at the end of January when we will have news on the first week of the DTS.
